Blue Grass Reel Works No. 3 Tournament Style Jeweled Aluminum Spool with Wood Arbor & Tournament Handle Circa 1897. This is a fine German Silver reel actually made by B.F. Meek & Sons during the 3 years he was in litigation with B.C Milam over name rights and slogans. This Tournament reel is very nice condition and spins fast & smooth. The Kentucky style look with the strong clicker on the face is typical Meek. Great knurling through-out and fixed scarlet jewels with removable bearing casings for looks and protection. Small Tournament handle is all aluminum with grips that spin freely. The spool is all aluminum with a big real wood arbor. Serial number of 8889 hides under the foot. The Blue Grass Reel Trade Mark name was later incorporated into the Meek line of reels after the lawsuit with Milam was settled. The name was changed to Blue Grass Reel and the (Works) was no longer seen. Great History here.
