Bronson Rare "CEDAR LAKE" Trade Reel for Western Auto Supply Engraved Level Wind Jeweled Circa-1941

$117.00

Bronson Rare "CEDAR LAKE" Trade Reel for Western Auto Supply Engraved Level Wind Jeweled Circa-1941. These jeweled level-winding models were sold by Western Auto Supply, likely just before the war in 1941. Western Auto Supply Co. originally started as a mail order business for replacement auto parts in Kansas City Mo. The first retail store was established in 1921, and grew quickly as automobiles became increasingly more common. At one point, there were over 1,200 company-owned stores nationwide, usually located in metropolitan areas, and more than 4,000 associate stores (private, franchised, "dealer" locations), usually located in small towns. The side plates have the “swimming fish” pattern and looks fantastic. Reel spins fast and smooth with a strong clicker. Jeweled removable bearing covers are knurled nicely and very clean. This is a very fine example and appears to be unfished but does have a black smudge on rear plate that I lightly tried to clean but did’nt want to damage the nickel plating so decided to leave it. This example was only seen 2 short years and is very difficult to find. Tough engraved reel.
