Edward Vom Hofe #504 Tobique by Ocean City circa 1941-42

$2,940.00

Edward Vom Hofe 504 Tobique Salmon Reel by Ocean City circa 1941-42. So I have studied this reel and spoke to some of the best collectors and minds I know with knowledge about this reel and its history. After discussion I believe this fine reel was made by Ocean City under the guidance of Otto Zwarg (EVH Reel manager). OC took control of EVH sometime either late in 1938 or before 1941 either way it appears it was a quiet takeover and only lasted until the war effort started. After the War Otto Zwarg took the patents back to New York for one year before relocating to Florida starting his own line of reels. I’m not sure how rare it is but it’s clearly marked PHILA. This is a very nice example of a EVH Classic and legend for all Fly Fisherman. Its smooth spinning, Fast with no wobble and just incredible to spin. Rear drag assembly works perfectly and clicker is loud and strong. German silver is nice and all hard rubber is in very fine condition. Just a fantastic reel.
