Gulf Reel Company "GULF BALL BEARING REEL" Level Wind Dallas Texas Circa-1947. This is a nice example of a pretty tough reel only made for a few short years. Its believed this reel was made using the Pflueger Supreme design patent that had run out in early 1940 and looks almost exactly like the later model Supreme. This reel is nothing like the Supreme inside mechanically however. Featuring surplus Ball Bearings left over after WWII in 1947 this fantastic reel spins much smoother and faster then the Supreme ever could. This reel has been fished but still very nice for these. It spins amazing with a very fast level wind gliding easily side to side and a very strong clicker. Everything is catalog correct on this cool reel that did’nt survive many years of production.
