John Kopf Early Brass Raised Pillar 25 Yard Single Action Reel Circa- 1885
John Kopf Early Brass Raised Pillar 25 Yard Single Action Reel Circa- 1885. John Kopf reels were made from the 1880’s through the 1890’s. Most of his reels are plain, unmarked and made of nickel plated brass, solid brass or his higher end reels can be found in german silver. Some have patent dates on them but it is very unusual to find one marked John Kopf on the outside. This is a beautiful 140 year old gem with incredible patina covering every brass part. It spins fast, straight, and smooth with a clicker that functions proper in both directions but is quieter than you might expect. Half handle is typical Kopf with a fine looking grip. Foot is very nice not manicured with the patent date and yardage underneath. I have included in the final picture a copy of the actual patent from 1895. Kopf is considered one of the great and most prolific New York reel makers.
