Martin Novelty Works, Lion, New York Circa - 1895 Fancy Engraved Auto-Matic Fly Reel with original Box, Manual & Post Card. Before the turn of the century Martin reel Co. was Martin Novelty Works. This is the first Model late 1800s Fancy engraved Auto-matic reel with Patent dates of July 26, 1892 and December 17, 1895. This combination comes with the original box and instructions in fair shape showing some storage wear but is totally intact and functions as intended. The combination also comes with a Martin Novelty Post Card I believe to be purchased from the Factory store. To the best of my knowledge this reel works well. I am not a expert on these reels but this reel does wind as older automatic reels I have owned and releases as it should with the lever. This reel looks fantastic and would be a great addition to any collection. I believe this reel was one of the first Automatic reels with patents along with the Yawman Erbe Reels. Truly a Beautiful Classic reel that has been stored carefully for many years.
