According to Emerson Hough–Forest & Stream’s “Chicago and the West” columnist he was a founding member of the Milwaukee Rod & Reel Club in 1898, The letterhead notes that Reed was President and Treasurer. His Sporting Goods store was located at 392 Water Street, a prominent business location near Pritzlaff and Frankfurth Hardware stores. This is a amazing fine quality german silver top hat or raised gear box reel that spins extremley smooth and fast. The rear plate mounted clicker is strong and loud. Early classic Malleson style handle shows up here and is straight and clean with a spectacular counter weight. Foot is straight and not manicured showing 60 yards underneath.
