Montague Wizard Top Hat with Gem Level Reel Winder Circa-1912. This is a great example of a early Montague Top Hat reel That functions perfectly and looks fantastic. The Gem Reel Level Winder is what steals the show here. First created in 1910 and then patented in 1912. ( patent-#1154220) Please see the last photo it will give you a great description of this fantastic Idea turned reality. I have only seen four of these and all four of the openings looked cracked as this does but its opening hole is pure and the line feeds through perfectly and this unique level winder works exactly as described . Great Reel with a very unique early Line guide seldom seen.
