$188.00

George Bly "U-NEED-A-REEL" Bake-lite & Brass Side Mount Brooklyn New York Circa-1922. This is considered rare you do see a few although never this nice. George Bly was better known for his rod making skills from his small studio shop in Brooklyn but also dabbled in the reel making business with “U-Need-A-Reel” and a few other wooden bank reels. All of his reels held the same capital “T” under the foot as this does. This is in very nice condition showing no flaws to the extremely clean bake-lite and just a little patina build up under the foot on the brass. All the other brass parts are in very fine condition. The reel measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and has a spool width of about 7/8 inches. Spins fast, smooth, straight with no wobble. Handle grips are original real wood with original black paint and spin freely. Its a very fine example.
