U.S. Net & Twine "The Climax" Brass Casting Reel Circa-1894. The person most associated with these inexpensive Climax reels was Frederick Moog. Moog is listed in the late 1880's New York City directories as a reel maker. He received a patent for the reel foot design on Aug. 14, 1894. He assigned the patent to United States Net & Twine Co. Previously, the company registered a trade-mark for the name "The CLIMAX" on July 3, 1894. The name was stamped on the reels they sold with the Moog patented foot design. This nice 130 year old reel is in good shape and spins fast and smooth. See the last picture for the Frederick Moog foot patent associated with this fine reel.
