Moog is listed in the late 1880's New York City directories as a reel maker. He received a patent for the reel foot design on Aug. 14, 1894. He assigned the patent to United States Net & Twine Co. Previously, the company registered a trade-mark for the name "The CLIMAX" on July 3, 1894. The name was stamped on the reels they sold with the Moog patented foot design.
